holds its initial meeting in Jackson, NJ
With
the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, the newly
appointed Music Commission of the Eastern American Diocese held its
first meeting on Sunday, May 3, 2009 – the Sunday of the
Myrrhbearing Women – at the parish hall of the St. Vladimir Memorial
Church in Jackson, N.J.
After being hospitably welcomed by the parish’s deputy
rector, Father Serge Ledkovsky, the commission opened its inaugural
session by singing the Paschal troparion “Christ is Risen…” in
perfect harmony and with true Paschal joy. During the meeting,
directed by Chairperson Elizabeth Ledkovsky and conducted in a warm
spirit of camaraderie, the commission unanimously elected Eugenia
Temidis as its Secretary and Jared Brewer as its Treasurer, and then
discussed various matters pertaining to its mission. Among these, the
commission resolved to support current endeavors by diocesan youth to
organize choral activities, and began work on a survey of all diocesan
parishes. The commission scheduled its next meeting for July.
