The Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission visited the Church of the Theophany in Boston

On the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, Archimandrite Joasaph (McLellan), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, led the divine services in the Church of the Theophany. After the Liturgy, Fr. Victor thanked Fr. Joasaph for his service and his prayers. Fr. Victor noted, that the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, currently headed by Fr. Joasaph, was founded in Tsarist times, and that Fr. Joasaph is the successor to a long line of great men of pre-Revolutionary Russia: Archimandrite (later bishop) Porphyrius (Uspensky), Bishop Kyrill (Naumov), Archimandrite Leonid (Kabelin), and Archimandrite Antoninus (Kapustin). For this reason, Fr. Joasaph carries the great responsibility, in a sense, of protecting the great spiritual legacy of Tsarist Russia. Fr. Victor added that the undertaking of Fr. Joasaph, who was raised in the Church of the Theophany under Fr. Roman Lukianov, is an inspiration and an example for all the faithful. Fr. Joasaph expressed his gratitude to the rector for his cordial reception, as well as his joy at the church overflowing with the faithful. Fr. Joasaph noted how pleasant it was to see, after the many long services of Great Lent, Passion Week, and Pascha, parishioners were not resting, as often is the case, but were finding spiritual rest from the tumultuous sea of life namely within the walls of the church.
