Atlanta: The Official Opening of the Pastoral Conference of the Eastern American Diocese

On Wednesday, October 21, the delegates to the pastoral conference gathered at the Church of St. Mary of Egypt for the official opening of the conference. At 9:30 AM, diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov served a moleben before the beginning of any good work, so as to call down the grace of the Holy Spirit on our Archpastors and the conference delegates. After the moleben, parish rector, Mitred Archpriest John Townsend, greeted His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, and the bishops, and welcomed all the delegates to Atlanta for the first diocesan pastoral conference in the South. Afterwards, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad greeted all the delegates, calling upon them God’s blessings and wishing them success in the fruit-bearing work of the conference. Having said this, the First Hierarch officially opened the pastoral conference. Presenting first was Archpriest Yaroslav Belikow, cleric of the Western American Diocese, with a speech and discussion on the preparation of couple for holy matrimony.
