holyfathers.lg.jpg (61018 bytes)On Sunday, October 25, the Holy Fathers Church of the Seven Ecumenical Councils in New York, NY, celebrated its annual patronal feast day. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace, Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, co-served by rector Priest Alexander Botschagow, Priest Vadim Arefiev, Priest Vitaly Lialukov, Deacon Dimitri Temidis, Deacon Nathan Mousselli, and the Metropolitan’s Subdeacon George Schatiloff. During the Little Entrance, Bishop Jerome awarded Fr. Alexander the right to wear the gold pectoral cross.

Vladyka Jerome delivered a sermon in Russian and English on the Epistle readings, in which he touched upon the reading for the feast, on the subject of the importance of obedience to those who rule over you. His Grace expounded on the importance of listening to those who are responsible for us spiritually.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a brief moleben was served before the Patronal Icon of the Seven Ecumenical Councils and “Many Years” was intoned. After services, a festal luncheon was offered, lovingly prepared by the parish's Head Sister, Matushka Irene, the sisterhood, and other parishioners.
