Framingham, MA: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. John the Wonderworker Church

fram.lg.jpg (57379 bytes)On Tuesday evening, January 19, on the feast of the Theophany, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Nicholas Church in West Springfield, MA. Parish rector Priest Brendan Crowley and Priest Victor Boldewskul (who brought the icon to West Springfield from Holy Epiphany Church in Boston) served a moleben with akathist, co-served by Protodeacon Constantine Semyanko (cleric of the Church of the Presentation of Christ, Stratford, CT). Also praying in church was Deacon John Williamson (cleric of Holy Resurrection Bulgarian Church in Allston, MA).

The following morning, Wednesday, January 20, the feast of the Synaxis of St. John the Forerunner, the Kursk icon visited St. John the Wonderworker Church in Framingham, MA, for the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated by Hieromonk Roman (Krassovsky). The church is temporarily situated in a wonderful  house, built in historic Boston style, and located on four acres of land. The parish, founded two years ago with the blessing of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Laurus, continues to grow, and the parishioners hope that, with God’s help, a rector will soon be assigned and the holy work of building a church can commence. The Liturgy was adorned with the especially prayerful and beautiful singing of the parish women's choir, which enhanced the festal spirit, such that all desire to leave the church after the service vanished. After the Liturgy, Fr. Roman performed the rite of the Great Blessing of the Water and served a moleben before the wonder-working icon, after which a luncheon was held.
