The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Nicholas Monastery

On Tuesday, February 2, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Nicholas Monastery in North Ft. Myers, FL. The icon was greeted to the peal of bells by Abbess Andrea, Mother Anna, and pilgrims who had come to venerate the wonder-working icon. Fr. Serge Lukianov served a moleben with akathist in the monastery chapel, co-served by Priest Rostislav Degusarov (cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church), who is temporarily serving at the monastery with the blessing of ROCOR’s First Hierarch. After the moleben, the icon was taken to St. Andrew’s Skete to bless the monastics’ cells. A work week at St. Nicholas Monastery had concluded several days before the arrival of the icon; it had been carried out by members of the Diocesan Council and other volunteers, and headed up by Priest John Moses. Photos of the work week will be published in the near future.
