Lakewood, NJ: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

On Sunday, January 3, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ. The icon was greeted by the parish children and young altar servers, who accompanied the Heavenly Queen into the church, reminiscent of the Entry of the Holy Theotokos into the Temple. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by cathedral rector Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, co-served by parish clergy: Priest Seraphim Chemodakov and Deacon Nathan Mousselli, in the presence of a multitude of the faithful. After the Liturgy, an akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was served before the wonder-working icon. The icon then departed Lakewood for the New Martyrs and Confessors Church in Brooklyn.
