Atlanta, GA: The Kursk Root Icon visited Holy Annunciation Greek Cathedral

On Friday, February 5, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Annunciation Greek Cathedral, the seat of Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta (Ecumenical Patriarchate), in Atlanta, capital of Georgia. Under the pealing of bells, the clergy and parishioners of the cathedral greeted the icon, and the Small Compline with akathist began. The service was led by cathedral dean Archpriest George Alexson, co-served by Archpriest Serge Lukianov (accompanying the icon), Archpriest Steven Ritter (cleric of St. Mary of Egypt Church in Atlanta), and Priest Christos Mars (cleric of the cathedral). Also praying in church were Archimandrite Grigorios (Tatsis; Ierokyrix to Metropolitan Alexios) and Priest Mark Sutton (rector of St. Seraphim Church in Memphis, TN – OCA). Upon completion of the service, Fr. Serge greeted the rector and parishioners on behalf of the First Hierarch of ROCOR, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, and presented the cathedral with a copy of the Kursk Icon.
