Mayfield: The Lenten Retreat and Pastoral Conference concluded

On Wednesday, March 3, upon completion of the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, a farewell banquet and official closing of the conference were held in the parish hall of St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Farewell addresses were delivered by diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Archpriest George Larin, Dean of Upstate New York, Archpriest Victor Potapov, Dean of Washington and the South, Archpriest Wsewolod Drobot (rector of the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Albany, NY), and cathedral dean Archpriest John Sorochka. In gratitude for the great success of the conference, Metropolitan Hilarion presented Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov with an engraved jeweled cross commemorating Fr. Artemy’s first visit to the diocese, as well as presented an exact copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque to Deacon Andrei Psarev. The First Hierarch then thanked the dean, Fr. John, Subdeacon Michael Pavuk, and everyone who helped make the conference a success, presenting the parish of St. John the Baptist with a certificate of appreciation. The conference officially closed with a thanksgiving moleben. The clergymen of the Eastern American Diocese then departed for their parishes, praising and thanking the Lord for a successful conference and for the chance to partake of Christ’s Holy Mysteries from one Chalice with their brothers.
