Charlotte, NC: The Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna visited North Carolina

stanna.lg.jpg (21337 bytes)On April 14-20, 2010, the miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna visited the parish of the Reigning Mother of God in Charlotte, NC, accompanied by the icon’s guardian, Archimandrite Athanasy (Mastalski). Many faithful from several states and Orthodox jurisdictions were able to venerate the holy icon during this visit. Parish rector Priest Alexander Logunov brought the icon to the homes of many parishioners, where a short moleben was served, bringing much spiritual joy to the faithful. On Friday, April 16, Fr. Alexander served Vespers in the Reigning Mother of God Church in the presence of a multitude of faithful. On Saturday morning, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Alexander, so-served by Archpriest Anastasy Yatrelis (rector of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Summerville, SC) and Priest Onouphry Keith (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Fletcher, NC). The All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening was served by Fr. Alexander, and many of the faithful were reluctant to leave at the end of the service, as they were comforted by the presence of St. Anna. Archimandrite Athanasy led the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, co-served by the rector. After the Liturgy, the sisterhood prepared a wonderful lunch for those present. On Monday evening, April 19, the icon of St. Anna visited St. Simeon the Myrrh-flowing Serbian Orthodox Church in Charlotte, where a moleben was served by Fr. Dragan Zaric. On Tuesday, the Icon visited the Panagia Prousiotissa Greek Orthodox Convent in Troy, NC, where a paraklesis was served. A bountiful luncheon was served by the nuns. The icon returned to Philadelphia on April 20.
