New York, NY: Hierarchs of the Eastern American Diocese participate in the Episcopal Assembly of North and Central America

assembly.lg.jpg (48885 bytes)Today the Episcopal Assembly of North and Central America, in which all canonical Orthodox bishops are invited to take part, opened in New York. The head of the American Greek Archdiocese, Archbishop Demetrios of America, led the meeting as chairman, and began the meeting with the first address. The vice chairman of the assembly, Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, the Administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA, delivered the third address. The Eastern American Diocese is being represented by the First Hierarch of ROCOR, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, Bishop George of Mayfield, and Bishop Jerome of Manhattan. Also included in the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church are: Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, Bishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, Bishop Job of Kashira, the Administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in Canada, Bishop Peter of Cleveland, and Bishop Theodosius of Seattle. The Assembly will continue until May 28.
