Columbia, SC: Abbess Andrea of St. Nicholas Monastery visits St. Elizabeth’s Church

columbia.lg.JPG (42922 bytes)As reported by the official site of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Church in Columbia, SC, on the evening of Tuesday, May 11, Mother Andrea, Abbess of St Nicholas Monastery in North Fort Myers FL, gave a presentation entitled "What is Reality?" at that parish. Mother Andrea’s talk was a questioning of the presuppositions of the modern world and its manner of operating in light of the teachings of some contemporary Orthodox fathers and saints.

After the talk, Mother Andrea answered questions posed by the faithful and then all partook of some light refreshments and fellowship. Mother Andrea and her nuns also sold various church items, including censers, vigil lamps, candles, incense, and books.

One of the additional spiritual benefits of the evening was the relics that Mother Andrea brought with her for the faithful to venerate. These included relics of St. Nicholas, St. Thaddeus the Apostle, St. Mary Magdalene, and many of the pre-Schism Western saints, such as St. Edmund, St. Cuthbert, St. Olaf, and St. Edward.
