pai.lg.jpg (35844 bytes)On Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of August, with the blessing of His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, the Port Arthur Icon of the Mother of God visited Greek Monastery of St. Nektarios of Pentapolis in Roscoe, NY, accompanied by Subdeacon Nathaniel Sorochka. The icon was present during the All-Night Vigil and the Divine Liturgy. The divine services were led by Abbot Joseph, co-served by the monastery clergy, to the marvelous singing of the monastery’s male choir. Some 250 pilgrims came from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to venerate the icon.

On Sunday evening, the icon visited Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where it was greeted by His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, local clergy and some 120 pilgrims. His Grace led the singing of the Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos, and then told the gathered faithful about the history of the icon.
