Wayne, WV: The Patronal Feast Day of Holy Cross Monastery

On Monday, September 27, the feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, led the divine services on the patronal feast day of Holy Cross Monastery. On the eve of the feast, Bishop George led the All-Night Vigil with the bringing out of the Cross and the Exaltation Rite.

His Grace was co-served by Igumen Seraphim, Priest Justin Patterson (rector of St. Athanasius Church in Lexington, KY) and the monastery clergy.

On Monday morning, the Divine Liturgy was served. During the Small Entrance, Igumen Seraphim (Voepel) was awarded the right to wear the paltisa, while Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell) was awarded the gold pectoral cross. After the Liturgy, a bountiful lenten luncheon was offered for all those present.
