Lakewood, NJ: The 6th Annual Russian & Slavic Cultural Festival at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

lkwd.lg.jpg (41258 bytes)On Sunday, October 10, the St. Alexander Nevsky Foundation held its sixth annual Russian and Slavic Cultural Festival at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ. The festival turned out to be a great success with over 1350 attendees on a beautiful afternoon. This year’s festival featured "Barynya" Russian Dance Ensemble for the first time. "Barynya" performed to a packed audience, who enjoyed traditional Russian foods and drinks. The festival also featured tours of the cathedral accompanied by an explanation of the cathedral’s history, as well as a short performance by the parish’s male choir.

This year’s festival was dedicated to parishioner Valentin Schumakoff, who passed away this August. Val was an integral part of the parish community, a devoted husband, and a caring father. Val’s work and leadership made the Russian and Slavic Cultural Festival a success every year.
