Nyack, NY: Patronal Feast Day of Holy Virgin Protection Church

On Wednesday the 13th and Thursday the 14th of October, Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY celebrated its patronal feast day. Rector Archpriest George Larin officiated the All-Night Vigil on the eve of the feast, co-served by parish cleric Archpriest Ilya Gorsky, Archpriest Serafim Gan (rector of St. Seraphim of Sarov Church in Sea Cliff, NY), Protodeacon Joseph Jarostchuk (cleric of Saint John of Kronstadt Church in Utica, NY), and parish cleric Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis.

The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was led by The First Hierarch of ROCOR, His Eminence, Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, co-served by the above-mentioned clergy as well as Hieromonk Nicholas (Perekrestov), and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky (cleric of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY).

During the reading of the hours, Dimitri Tchertkoff, a long-time reader of the parish, was awarded the right to wear the orarion. After a festal procession around the church, a Synodal gramota was given to Tatiana Serafimovna Tchertkoff, daughter of Archpriest Serafim Slobodskoy (author of the book "Law of God" and past rector of the Nyack parish), for her tireless and dedicated service to the Church.

After the Liturgy, the clergy, guests, and parishioners were invited by the sisterhood to the church hall for a bountiful and delicious luncheon.
