Chattanooga, TN: VIM Volunteers built a chapel in honor of the Protection of the Mother of God

vim.lg.jpg (47522 bytes)On October 7-9, Archpriest John Moses led several members of the Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Program on a work project in Chattanooga, TN, to help construct a chapel for the Protection of the Mother of Mission in the home of Archpriest Stavros Rousos. The team built an iconostasis, altar table, table of oblation, and servers’ table for the mission. A new lighting system was also installed.

The Protection of the Mother of God Mission was founded with the blessing of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York. The mission will help to serve the Russian community in Chattanooga.

Fr. John was accompanied by Messrs. Daniel Brown and Joshua Fahey, both members of Christ the Savior Church in Wayne, WV. The team worked quickly, so that the chapel would be ready for the celebration of its first patronal feastday on October 14. Support for this project came from private individuals and from the Diocesan Council of the Eastern American Diocese.
