New York, NY: Namesday of Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA

aj.lg.jpg (46031 bytes)As reported by the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church in the USA, on Saturday, November 27, on the feast day of the Holy Right-Believing Emperor Justinian, Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York. Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, clergy of the Patriarchal parishes and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, as well as a multitude of parishioners and cathedral guests came to share the joy of Eucharistic union with His Eminence, who was celebrating his namesday. Present in the cathedral during the Liturgy were His Excellency, Sergey I. Kislyak, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in New York, Andrey K. Yushmanov, the Consul General of Greece in New York, Aglaia Balta, as well as members of the Russian Federation Representation to the UN.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, the archpastors and clergy performed a short moleben in the center of the church before an icon of St. Justinian. In his sermon, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA thanked Bishop Jerome and everyone had come together to honor his heavenly patron. On behalf of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence’s personal secretary, Archpriest Serafim Gan, congratulated Archbishop Justinian. On behalf of the clergy and parishioners of the Eastern American Diocese, diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov greeted His Eminence and presented him with a same-size copy of the Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign." After the polychronion was intoned to Archbishop Justinian, cathedral guests and parishioners came up to congratulate him, as well.

An official reception in honor of His Eminence’s namesday was then held in the General Consulate of the Russian Federation in New York, hosted by Consul General Andrey Yushmanov.
