Jacksonville, FL: Bishop Jerome’s archpastoral visit to Northern Florida

On Saturday, December 11, His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, paid an archpastoral visit to the newly created St. John of Shanghai Mission in Jacksonville, FL. That evening, Bishop Jerome performed the lesser blessing of the water, and then served the All-Night Vigil.

On Sunday morning, His Grace, accompanied by Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis and Deacon Leo Opie (cleric of St. John Mission), visited the neighboring Hermitage of the Holy Cross, where Abbot David (Pierce) celebrated the Divine Liturgy according to the Western Rite. During the Liturgy, Vladyka delivered a sermon on that day’s Gospel reading.

After the service, Bishop Jerome returned to St. John Mission and celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Dimitri, Fr. Leo, and parish Deacon Ivan Voloshchuk. During the service, Fr. David confessed the faithful in the church. After the Liturgy, His Grace served a moleben to St. John of Shanghai. During the moleben, Priest Stanislav Kravljaca, rector of neighboring St. King Milutin Serbian Mission, prayed in church. After the service, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the parish hall.
