Miami, FL: Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Vladimir’s Church

On Sunday, December 5, with the blessing of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Vladimir’s Church in Miami, FL as reported by the official website the Patriarchal Parishes in America. The archpastors were co-served by parish rector Archpriest Daniel McKenzie and clerics of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA

After the service, Archbishop Justinian greeted Metropolitan Alexander on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, and then introduced the honored guest to the crowd of parishioners that had gathered for the Sunday service. Metropolitan Alexander told parishioners about his previous post serving in the Diocese of Kostroma, and about the history of the St. Theodore Icon of the Mother of God – the Protectress of the House of Romanov. In memory of his visit to the parish and the concluded divine service, Metropolitan Alexander presented the church with a copy of the St. Theodore Mother of God. Archbishop Justinian presented the church with an icon of the Enlighteners of America, and distributed small icons of the Kazan Mother of God to parishioners.

Parish rector Archpriest Daniel McKenzie thanked Their Eminences for their visit and the joy of their prayerful communion, and shared with them the history of Miami’s parish, which was opened with the blessing of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia.

Discussions between clergy and parishioners continued during a brotherly luncheon in the parish hall, where ROCOR parishioners spoke of the need to build a new, larger Orthodox church with a capacity commensurate with the needs of Miami’s large Russian population.
