Atlanta, GA: Bishop George of Mayfield celebrated the patronal feast day of St. Mary of Egypt Church

On Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of April, the Sunday of St. Mary of Egypt, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, visited St. Mary of Egypt Church in Roswell, GA, to join in the celebration of the parish’s patronal feast day. His Grace led the All-Night Vigil that evening, co-served by parish clergy: rector Archpriest John Townsend, Archpriest Steven Ritter, and Priest Alexander Lisnichuk. The following morning, His Grace led the Divine Liturgy. During the hours, Alexis Maddox of Birmingham, AL was tonsured a reader and then a subdeacon. After the Great Entrance, Deacon Matthew Smith (cleric of the Chapel of the Protection of the Mother of God and St. Nektarios of Aegina in Chattanooga, TN) was ordained to the priesthood; he will continue his assignment there. Subdeacon Alexis was then ordained to the diaconate and will be assigned to the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension in Resaca, GA. The festal liturgy was followed by a generous Lenten repast served by the sisterhood of the parish, bringing a feeling of early Pascha to the North Atlanta parish.
