New York, NY: Celebrations in honor of the 35th anniversary of the ordination of Bishop Jerome were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Bright Tuesday, April 26, Archbishop Justinian, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York, leading the celebrations in honor of the 35th anniversary of ordination of Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan. His Eminence was co-served by Bishop Jerome, Archimandrite Ioann (Magramm; cleric of the Mid-American Diocese), Archpriest Victor Tseshkovsky (rector of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY), Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Archpriest Teimuraz Suarishvili (cleric of the Georgian Orthodox Church), Abbot Vikenty (Bryleev; cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York), Priest Alexander Kazak, Protodeacon Nicholas Mokhoff (cleric of the cathedral), and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY). Also praying in the altar was Archpriest Andrei Sommer, senior priest of the cathedral.

With the blessing of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, during the singing of the Paschal hours, Archbishop Justinian ordained Reader Philip Ramstad a subdeacon, and after the Eucharistic Canon, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Philip to the diaconate.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes, Archbishop Justinian, greeted Bishop Jerome, congratulating his co-brother on his historic milestone, and presented the diocesan vicar a panagia with an image of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God. In turn, Bishop Jerome thanked Archbishop Justinian for his gift and kind words, and joyously noted that the ordination of a deacon in the Synodal cathedral by a bishop of the Moscow Patriarchate was in itself an historic milestone.

Archpriest Serge Lukianov, secretary of the Eastern American Diocese, then greeted the Bishop of Manhattan, congratulating him on this significant date on behalf of Metropolitan Hilarion and Bishop George of Mayfield. On behalf of all of the faithful children of the diocese, Fr. Serge presented His Grace with a hand-written icon of the Savior "Not Made by Hands," with a commemorative plaque.

A bountiful festal luncheon was then offered in the Synodal hall, during which many congratulatory toasts were offered on behalf of His Grace.

On Monday, April 11, His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow and All Russia, sent a congratulatory greeting to His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American and New York Diocese, on the 35th anniversary of his clerical service:

To His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese.

Your Grace!

On the thirty fifth anniversary of your clerical service, please accept my sincerest congratulations on this momentous date, and my prayerful wishes for strength, boldness of spirit, and blessed help from Our Master, the Lover of Mankind.

From your youth, your entire life has been suffused with the fervent desire to serve the Lord and His Holy Church. You searched with an open heart for "the face of the God of Jacob" (Psalm 24:6) and you accepted Orthodoxy with joy. Fulfilling many obediences laid upon you, you have provided a true example of Christian meekness, humility, and devotion to your calling. Now, in the rank of bishop, you zealously labor in the Eastern American Diocese, contributing in significant ways to the development of Orthodox spiritual education.

In recognition of your earnest service and on the 35th anniversary of accepting the priesthood, I deem it proper to award you a commemorative panagia.

May the great mercies of the Founder of the spiritual labors of our salvation accompany you in your archpastoral duties in God’s Vineyard.

With love in Christ,

+KYRILL
