Bristol, VA: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Tikhon the New-Martyr Mission

On Sunday, February 13, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Tikhon the New-Martyr Mission in Bristol, VA. A moleben and akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos were served in the church before her wonderworking Icon. Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov led the moleben, co-served by mission rector Priest Onouphry Keith and Priest Mark Tyson (rector of St. Mary’s Dormition Church in Bluefield, WV).

Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge spoke to the faithful about the travels and miracles of the Kursk Root Icon, calling the faithful to approach the holy Icon of the Mother of God with special sincerity, working to begin a new spiritual life through true repentance. Fr. Serge then presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.
