Chattanooga, TN: The Kursk Root Icon visited Protection of the Mother of God Chapel

On Monday, February 14, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the Chapel of the Protection of the Mother of God & St. Nektarios of Aegina in Chattanooga, TN. The chapel is located in the home of the rector, Archpriest Stavros Rousos. Fr. Stavros recently broke his hip, and is confined to his bed. Before the beginning of the moleben, Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov visited Fr. Stavros’ bedside with the Kursk Icon, and the latter greeted the wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God with tears in his eyes.

A moleben and akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was then served in the chapel by Fr. Serge, co-served by Deacon Matthew Smith (cleric of St. Nektarios Mission in Lenoir City, TN). Also present was Priest Daniel Talley (rector of St. Tikhon of Moscow Mission in Chattanooga). Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge spoke to the faithful about the travels and miracles of the Kursk Root Icon, calling all to true repentance and the doing of good deeds, and then presented the rector a copy of the Kursk Root Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.
