Jacksonville, FL: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. John of Shanghai Church

On Wednesday, February 16, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the Parish of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in Jacksonville, FL. Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church, co-served by Archimandrite Stratonicus (Legach; rector of St. Michael’s Monastery in Grushevo, Ukraine), Priest Stanislav Kravljača (rector of St. King Milutin Serbian Church in Jacksonville), and parish clerics: Deacons Leo Opie and Ivan Voloshchuk. Also praying in church were Abbot David (Pierce; rector of Holyrood Hermitage in Jacksonville) and Priest Nicholas Louh (rector of St. John the Divine Greek Church).

Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, and reminded them about the heavenly and never-ceasing intercessions of the Theotokos for all mankind, and presented the parish a copy of the Kursk Root Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. A bountiful luncheon was then served at the Greek restaurant next door.
