Macon, GA
: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Innocent Church

On Tuesday, February 15, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Innocent of Moscow Church in Macon, GA. In the newly constructed, Georgian-style church, Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, led the moleben and akathist, co-served by the parish rector, Priest Theophan Buck.

Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, and reminded them about the heavenly and never-ceasing intercessions of the Theotokos for all mankind. He called on the parishioners to continue the holy labor of constructing God’s church, and then presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. Before the Icon departed south to Florida, a bountiful dinner was served in the parish hall.
