Mebane, NC
: The Kursk Root Icon visited Holy Trinity Church

On Wednesday evening, February 9, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Trinity Church in Mebane, NC. The community of Holy Trinity Church was founded in 1991, and has for many years lacked a church building. By God’s mercy, the parishioners were able to obtain land and an old furniture factory, which is currently undergoing major renovations to convert it to a beautiful Orthodox church. Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, served the All-Night Vigil. In light of the fact that the parish still lacks a rector or even regular clergy, parishioners rejoiced at the opportunity to go to Holy Confession, which many did. With God’s help, a new rector, Archpriest Alexander Davydov, will arrive from Kursk in the near future.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Priest Alexander Logunov (rector of the Reigning Mother of God Church in Charlotte, NC). Upon completion of the Liturgy, an icon of the Mother of God of the Sign, a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, was presented to the parish.  A luncheon was then offered in the parish hall.
