Summerville, South Carolina: The Kursk Root Icon visited Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church

On Thursday, February 10, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Summerville, SC, founded in the 1970s by Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky). Before the arrival of the Icon at the church, a warm reception was held at the Continental Corner Greek restaurant, owned by none other than the church’s rector, Archpriest Anastasy Yatrelis. After the reception, the Icon was greeted by procession in front of the church, which is located in the building of an old historic theater. A moleben and akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos before the wonder-working icon were then served in the church, which was overflowing with worshipers. Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov led the moleben, co-served by South Carolina clerics Archpriest John Breck (cleric of Holy Ascension Church in Charleston), Fr. Anastasy, Priest Mark Mancuso (rector of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Church in Columbia), and Priest John Parker (rector of Holy Ascension Church).
