Winter Garden, FL: The Kursk Root Icon visited Holy Elders of Optina Mission

 

On Friday, February 18, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Elders of Optina Mission in Winter Garden, FL. Before a large gathering of parishioners and worshipers from neighboring parishes, Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, served a moleben and akathist in the church, co-served by parish cleric Priest Steven Webb. Also praying in church was Archpriest Ljubiša Brnjoš (rector of St. Petka Serbian Church in Longwood, FL).

 

Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, calling all to sincere repentance and prayer, and presented Fr. Steven a copy of the Kursk Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

 

A bountiful luncheon was then offered outside, in the open air, during which the faithful continued to venerate the wonder-working Icon.
