Beltsville, MD: The Kursk Root Icon visited Holy Apostles Church

On Wednesday the 2nd and Thursday the 3rd of February, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Apostles Church in Beltsville, MD. Parish rector Archpriest George Johnson served the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy, co-served by Priest Jonah Campbell (сleric of St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ), who was accompanying the Icon, and parish Deacon Damian Dantinne.

Upon completion of the Vigil, a unique photomontage was presented on the life and blessed repose of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Philaret (Voznesensky). The following morning, upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. George spoke to the gathered faithful on the history and wonders of the wonderworking icon. Fr. Jonah then presented the rector an icon of the Mother of God with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion. A short moleben was then served before the Icon followed by a luncheon.
