On Friday, January 28, His Grace Michael, Bishop of New York and New Jersey (OCA), served a moleben and akathist before the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God in Holy Virgin Dormition Church in Binghamton, NY. His Grace was co-served by Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Archpriest Alexey Karlgut (dean of New York State OCA), parish rector Priest Ilya Gotlinsky, and local clergy.

After the akathist, Bishop Michael addressed worshipers with an archpastoral homily. Fr. Serge then presented the rector a copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion.
