The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Orthodox parishes in Buffalo

On Monday, January 24, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the Church of St. Theodore Tyro and St. Theodore Stratelates in Buffalo, NY, where a moleben and akathist were served.

The following morning, the Icon visited St. Stephen’s Serbian Church. The rector, Archpriest Rastko Trbuhovich, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, Archpriest Herman Schick (rector of St. George’s Church in Buffalo), and Priest Dejan Obradovic (rector of St. George’s Church in Niagara Falls, NY). Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge presented the rector a copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion.

The Icon then traveled to the Hellenic Church of the Annunciation, where the rector, Priest Christos Christakis, served a paraklesis before the Icon. After the service, Fr. Serge presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Icon.
