Wilkes-Barre, PA: Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia served a moleben before the Kursk Root Icon in Holy Trinity Church

On Saturday, January 29, His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania (OCA), served a moleben and akathist before the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God in Holy Trinity Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA. His Grace was co-served by Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, parish rector Archpriest David Shewczyk, and a multitude of local clergy.

After the moleben, Bishop Tikhon addressed worshipers with an archpastoral homily, followed by Fr. Serge, who presented the rector a copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion. A bountiful luncheon was then offered in the parish hall, during which a photomontage of the Icon’s return to Russia in 2009 was presented.
