Nyack, NY: Bishop Jerome led the Patronal Feast Day at Holy Virgin Protection Church

On Thursday, October 13, on the eve of the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the All-Night Vigil was served at Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. The Vigil was led by parish rector Archpriest George Larin (dean of the New England Deanery), co-served by Archpriest Elias Gorsky (parish cleric), Priest Vadim Arefiev (rector of the Church of Our Lady "The Inexhaustible Chalice" in Brooklyn, NY), parish Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis, and Deacon George Temidis (cleric of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY).

On Friday morning, the very day of the feast, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, visited Nyack to celebrate the Divine Liturgy. To the joy of parishioners, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God was brought to the parish for the patronal feast day by its guardian, Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky.

Bishop Jerome was co-served by the rector, Fr. Elias, Archpriest Victor Tseshkovsky (rector of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church in Mahopac), Archpriest Serafim Gan (rector of St. Seraphim Church in Sea Cliff, NY), and the above-mentioned deacons. During the Sixth Hour, His Grace tonsured parishioner Alexei Rylov a reader, and awarded him the orarion.

After the Liturgy, Bishop Jerome awarded Maria Zaporoshan a Synodal gramota for her many years of work in the parish. A bountiful luncheon was then offered by the sisterhood in the parish hall.
