Coronado, Costa Rica: Parishioners of Our Lady of Vladimir Mission celebrated their Patronal Feast Day

On Thursday, September 8, parishioners of the newly constructed Church of the Holy Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Coronado, Costa Rica, gathered for the first celebration of their parish’s patronal feast day. For the past 17 years, the parish has been meeting in various homes in the vicinity of the capital, San José. The Divine Liturgy was served by Archpriest Daniel McKenzie (rector of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL). Everyone went to confession and received Holy Communion. Upon completion of the Liturgy, a procession was performed around the church.

After the service, Fr. Daniel congratulated the parishioners on their continued progress in having completed the new decorative security wall in front of the church and begun construction on a new small house for a permanently assigned priest. The parish still needs to install electric, interior embellishment, an iconostasis, and a central dome. As nearly all of the funds for the new church have come from donors outside of Costa Rica, parishioners are hoping for additional help from the faithful in other countries to be able to complete this work.
