Jordanville, NY:
Diocesan Media Office Staff met with the Curator of Holy Trinity Seminary’s Library, Archives, and Museum

On Wednesday, September 28, diocesan Media Office staff Reader Peter Lukianov and Michael Kazmierczak met with Archpriest Vladimir Tsurikov, curator of Holy Trinity Seminary’s library, archives, and museum, to discuss plans for future collaborative research projects between the Eastern American Diocese and Holy Trinity Seminary. The Media Office hopes to share the rich spiritual legacy of the Diocese with its faithful by researching and publishing materials pertaining to its history.

While visiting the seminary archives, diocesan staff spent several hours reviewing periodicals and photographs in preparation for a presentation dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the repose of Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky) and Archbishop Averky (Taushev), scheduled for the upcoming Pastoral Conference in Jordanville.

Fr. Vladimir gave a tour of the Seminary’s library, archives, and museum, which contain print materials, archival collections ,and three-dimensional objects spanning over several centuries. The seminary houses the largest collection of historical and religious artifacts pertaining to the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. Fr. Vladimir and his colleagues are continuously improving and expanding the Seminary’s collections. "This is our history – the history of ROCOR," said Fr. Vladimir. "Many people are not aware that these facilities even exist, but the work being done here is vitally important to the preservation and proper understanding of our past. Our work here does also have broader significance, as the resources housed at Holy Trinity Seminary attract visitors who would otherwise never be exposed to the Orthodox Faith."

The resources of Holy Trinity Seminary will allow the Diocesan Media Office to piece together and share the history of the Eastern American Diocese. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Archimandrite Luke, the seminary's rector and acting dean, and Fr. Vladimir for their generosity and assistance in realizing this undertaking.
