Lakewood, NJ: On Bright Monday, Bishop Jerome celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

On Bright Monday, April 16, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ. To the joy of the parishioners, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, was also brought to the cathedral.

At the Divine Liturgy, His Grace was co-served by cathedral rector Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, Priest Seraphim Chemodakov (cathedral cleric), Priest Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Protodeacon Nicholas Lukianov (cathedral cleric), Protodeacon Nicholas Olhovsky (guardian of the Kursk Root Icon), and Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Church).

During the First Hour, Bishop Jerome awarded seven altar servers the right to wear the orarion. During the communion of the clergy, His Grace delivered a festal sermon, congratulating the faithful with the glorious feast of Pascha; upon completion of the Liturgy, a procession was held around the cathedral. The rector, Fr. Valery, then greeted His Grace, thanking him for his archpastoral visit.

In keeping with annual parish tradition, an Easter egg hunt was organized for parish children, and the children were all allowed a chance to ring the bells. A bountiful festal luncheon was offered in the parish hall.
