Novo-Diveevo, NY: Bishop Jerome celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Holy Dormition Convent on St. Thomas Sunday

On St. Thomas Sunday, April 22, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim’s Church at Holy Dormition Convent at Novo-Diveevo (Nanuet, NY).

His Grace was co-served by monastery clerics Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski and Protodeacon Sergei Arlievsky, as well as Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City). Also praying in church were Archpriest Gleb Wleskoff (monastery cleric), Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo, Abbess Irene, rectress of the convent, and the sisterhood.

The Liturgy was served to the triumphal singing of the choir and in an extremely heightened, prayerful atmosphere. Upon completion of the Liturgy, a general panihida was served for all departed Orthodox Christians. Due to inclement weather, the traditional procession and panihida in the cemetery were cancelled, but despite the weather, the faithful came bravely to honor the memory of their departed relatives and pray for the repose of their souls.
