New York City: On the Feast of the Transfiguration, Metropolitan Hilarion celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Sunday, August 19, the great feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. His Eminence was co-served by Synodal clergy: Archpriest Andrei Sommer (senior priest), Hieromonk Nicholas (Perekrestov), Priest Nicholas Olhovsky, Protodeacon Nicholas Mokhoff, and Deacon Nathan Mousselli.

During the Sixth Hour, Metropolitan Hilarion tonsured longtime Synodal choir member Anatoly Pancheshny a reader. The First Hierarch also ordained Reader Vladimir Gaitfudinov a subdeacon.

Present at the Liturgy was the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Upon completion of the divine services, the First Hierarch blessed the grapes and fruits of the harvest, brought to the cathedral by the faithful.
