Baltimore, MD: Bishop Jerome led the Patronal Feast Day of Holy Transfiguration Church

On Sunday, August 19, on the great feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan paid an archpastoral visit to Baltimore, MD and led the patronal feast day of Holy Transfiguration Church.

Before the start of Liturgy, the Lesser Blessing of the Water was performed. During the Sixth Hour, Bishop Jerome awarded altar server Tudor Barbus the right to wear the orarion. His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by parish rector Archpriest Ion Barbus and Deacon Anatoly Revitskyy (cleric of the Church of our Lady "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in Philadelphia, PA). During the Little Entrance, in honor of the 20th anniversary of his ordination to the holy orders, Fr. Ion was awarded the right to wear the palitsa.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, the traditional blessing of the fruits was held, after which Fr. Anatoly read aloud the Metropolitan’s directive awarding Fr. Ion. After the service, a bountiful festal luncheon was served.

Next year, the parish will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding.
