Columbia, SC: Bishop George led the Divine Services in St. Elizabeth Church

On Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th of December, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr Church in Columbia, SC, and led the divine services.

At the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy, His Grace was co-served by parish rector Archpriest Mark Mancuso and parish Deacon Columba Wilson. During the Little Entrance at Liturgy, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, Fr. Columba was awarded the double orarion.

During the luncheon in the parish hall, Media Officer director Reader Peter Lukianov held a presentation of the upcoming documentary "Orthodox in Dixie," which examines the ROCOR parishes and Orthodox Christians living in South Carolina, as well as what the state would potentially look like if it were entirely Orthodox.

Parishioners were given an opportunity to see an extended preview, followed by a question-and-answer session with the producer. In the words of Bishop George, the documentary was "one of the most outstanding Orthodox films I have ever seen," while Fr. Mark described the experiment as "Orthodox TV meets the Travel Channel and Food Network."

The film, produced with the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion, will be released on January 1, 2013. Click here to see the official trailer for "Orthodox in Dixie."
