Framingham, MA: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. John the Wonderworker Parish

On January 22-25, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, visited St. John the Wonderworker Church in Framingham, MA. During the first days of the visit, rector Archpriest Yaroslav Belikow, accompanied by the Icon’s guardian, Protodeacon Nicholas Olhovsky, visited many parishioners; a moleben to the Mother of God was served in each home. On Tuesday evening, during Vespers, as well as on Wednesday morning, on the feast of the Holy Martyr Tatiana, the faithful we able to quietly pray before the wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God. That evening, as on every Wednesday, a moleben and akathist was served to the Mother of God, during which the small church was filled to capacity with worshipers. At 7:00 o’clock, the Icon was greeted as is proper, with candles and the peal of bells. All of the worshipers received copies of the Icon, blessed on the wonderworking original, and after the akathist was sung, they bade farewell to the Kursk Icon as it continued its journey.
