Howell, NJ: Bishop George led the Divine Services and an Ordination to the Diaconate in St. George’s Church

On Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of November, , on the feast of the Election of St. Tikhon the Confessor as Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, visited Howell, NJ to lead the divine services and an ordination to the diaconate in St. George’s Church.

On Saturday night, His Grace was co-served by the rector, Archpriest Serge Lukianov, and parish Protodeacon Leonid Roschko. The following morning, the parish clergy were joined by Deacon George Temidis (cleric of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY). After the singing of the Eucharistic Canon, Bishop George ordained diocesan treasurer Subdeacon Michael Wengrin to the diaconate. The newly ordained Deacon Michael will fulfill his service in St. George’s Church.

The Liturgy was adorned with the singing of the St. Petersburg male choir "Capella," who joined the parish choristers. After the service, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the Cossack hall next door in honor of the honored guest and the joyous occasion of the ordination. Many congratulatory words were spoken at the luncheon, after which "Capella" performed a Russian folk music concert to the joy of those gathered.
