The Joint Pastoral Conference will open with the Singing of the Diocesan Holy Myrrhbearers Women’s Choir

The first joint pastoral conference of clergy of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Church Abroad on Thursday, October 11, will open with the Divine Liturgy in Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY, sung by the Diocesan Holy Myrrhbearers Women’s Choir.

The women’s choir was founded in 1997 by a group of singers in the Nyack area. Since then, the choir has grown to become one of the largest women’s choirs in the Church Abroad. As the Diocese celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Reunification of the Russian Church, the women will return to the parish where they sang their first Liturgy in 1998. "What an honor to be able to participate," said choir director Mat. Eugenia Temidis. "I’m thrilled that a group of singers from our diocesan women’s choir is able to donate their time and effort to singing the opening Liturgy of the upcoming Reunification conference."

Continuing their tradition of including singers from different parts of the Diocese, the choir will be joined by matushkas from afar that will be attending the conference.

The hours will be read at 7:40 AM and the Liturgy will begin at 8:00 AM on Thursday, October 11, in Holy Virgin Protection Church.

Also singing at the conference will be the Moscow Sretensky Male Choir and the Diocesan Youth Male Choir.
