Jordanville: The Feast Day of St. Elizabeth Skete

On Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th of July, on the feast day of the Holy Nun-Martyrs Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Barbara, the nuns of St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr Skete in Jordanville, NY celebrated their patronal feast. Having successful completed major renovations in the skete’s chapel, the sister held the divine services in it for the first time. Services were led by the abbot of nearby Holy Trinity Monastery, Archimandrite Luke (Murianka), co-served by Hieromonk Moises (Borges). On Thursday morning, the rite of the blessing of water was performed, and after the Liturgy, the monks and pilgrims held a procession around the skete grounds. All of the pilgrims were then invited to continue their interaction at a festal luncheon, prepared by the sisterhood in the skete’s garden.
