Monk Peter (Moskovites) reposed in the Lord

On Monday, December 16, the feast of the Holy Prophet Zephaniah, Monk Peter (Moskovites) reposed in the Lord at 82 years of age. Fr. Peter was born John Moskovites on March 26, 1931 in Lowell, MA and served for 27 years in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and earned both Ph.D. and M.D. degrees.

On August 8, 2012 he finally fulfilled his longtime desire to enter the monastic ranks when, with the blessing of His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, and his pastor, Archpriest Victor Potapov (rector of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC), he was tonsured to the Lesser Schema by Abbot Seraphim (Voepel) at Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV and numbered among the monastery’s brotherhood. Fr. Peter was an exceedingly kind and loving man, who remained radiantly joyful throughout his long period of suffering with numerous health problems.

Memory eternal to the newly reposed Monk Peter!
