Moscow: Metropolitan Hilarion was Awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, 2nd Class

On Tuesday, February 5, the final meeting day of the Holy Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church began with joint prayer at the Divine Liturgy.

During the day’s work, ecclesiastical awards were presented to a group of Council participants marking significant milestones in their lives. As reported by the Information Service for the Council of Bishops, in honor of his 65th birthday, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, was awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, 2nd Class.

At the same time, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, was presented with a commemorative panagia. Bishop Jerome also turned 65 in December 2011.
