New York City: Departed members of the House of Romanov were prayerfully commemorated in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign

On Tuesday, June 18, a panihida was served in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, during which the entire Royal House of Romanov was prayerfully commemorated. The service for the departed was led by the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon. His Beautitude was coserved by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, and the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk. Prayerfully present during the service were Archbishops Mark of Berlin, Germany & Great Britain, Kyrill of San Francisco & Western America, and Gabriel of Montreal & Canada, and Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, all of whom were taking part in a regular meeting of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, as well as clergy, representatives of the Nobility Assembly, members of the cultural community, and the faithful of New York and neighboring states. Lastly, also in attendance were the Consul General of the Russian Federation in New York City, Igor Golubovsky, and his wife.

Upon completion of the panihida, the Synod of Bishops and Russian Consul General held a joint reception in the Synodal hall.

The Russian Church Abroad began the year of the 400th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty by commemorating the Royal Passion-Bearers at the dismissal for divine services: the Tsar-Martyr Nicholas, Tsaritsa Alexandra, Crown Prince Alexis, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia, as well as the venerable martyrs Grand Duchess Elizabeth and nun Barbara and those slain with them. On the Sunday of Orthodoxy, churches of the Russian Diaspora proclaimed "Memory Eternal" to the right-believing kings and queens of the House of Romanov, and "to all those belonging to the All-Russian Ruling House." Meanwhile, the Russian Church Abroad will hold a church-wide celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty on September 5-8 in Canada, at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Toronto, where a conference of Russian Orthodox society will be held. It will be attended by the descendants of those who were forced to escape their historic homeland, but thanks to whom, for more than 90 years, prayer and the preaching of the Gospel, even so far from Russia, never ceased.
