Wayne, WV: Patronal Feast Day of Nativity of the Virgin Mary Convent

On Saturday, September 21, the great feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the brethren of Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV celebrated the patronal feast day of the Convent of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The convent, home to Nun Theodora, is located on the grounds of Holy Cross.

The habitation’s deputy abbot, Abbot Seraphim (Voepel), celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by monastery clergy. Upon conclusion of the Liturgy, a moleben was served with special petitions for Mother Theodora’s health and the speedy restoration of the convent, which burned down along with the candle factory on the feast of Pentecost earlier this year.

Construction on the new convent building is expected to be completed soon after the annual Pilgrimage Weekend, which will take place this weekend, September 28-29. Recently, three local parishes (Greek, Antiochian, and ROCOR) held a fundraiser to benefit the convent, which raised over $6,000.
