Wayne, WV: Hierarchal Liturgy concludes Holy Cross Monasterys Annual Pilgrimage

On Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of September, Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV held its annual Pilgrimage Weekend. Pilgrims gathered at the monastery’s outdoor chapel, where His Grace Peter, Bishop of Cleveland, Administrator of the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America, celebrated the Divine Liturgy. His Grace was co-served by the abbot, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, as well as monastery and visiting clergy from the Church Abroad and various jurisdictions.

Upon the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop George expressed his gratitude to Bishop Peter for visiting the monastery for the first time since 1979, when the area was still thickly forested and home to one family of pious Christians. His Grace then presented his guest with a panagia. In return, Bishop Peter thanked his host Bishop George and the brotherhood for their hospitality and invitation to visit the monastery.

A gramota from His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, was presented to Luke and Alexandra Gephart, longtime benefactors who provided much-needed financial support to the monastery.

After the service, the clergy and pilgrims traveled to nearby Holy Spirit Antiochian Church, where a festal banquet was held in the parish hall.
